I support shunning as a social punishment, I think it’s an effective concept in theory.

but I don’t accept the idea of shame or sin

I think that is for religion, the same as how advertising undermines our self esteem and confidence – as well as our sense of self worth and value.

There’s enough negative messages that we get on a daily basis to glom onto these negative emotions

no matter their source
